Optimizing your movie quality with TRaSH Guides custom formats

The following guide was contributed by @LayeZee, Elf-venger and Arr-Ninja!

Below you'll find an ELI5 guide to importing the 1080p version of the TRaSH Guides into your Radarr for better compatibility with your devices.

(This isn't a 1 size fits all but it's close)

Too complicated? Do it with ElfBot!

Process

Okay so let's begin.

You'll need to first go to radarr and open your Settings page then click on Custom Formats, after doing this press the + button and on the page that is displayed and at the bottom left click import, now the page displayed will be asking for a JSON code, once you've pasted the JSON code you'll save, confirm the custom formats are added, and then press Save at the bottom right of the screen and then the process begins again.

I'll provide the codes below but essentially this step 1 is what we'll be following until stated otherwise so please familiarize yourselves with the process of adding a custom format and copy and pasting the JSON code.

Here we're are going to be copying the JSON codes for the required Custom Formats, I'm going to skip the explanation as to why we're adding 4K profiles etc in a 1080p list as this is an ELI5 instructional, if you wish to understand more please refer to the original trash guides for an in-depth explanation of events.

So starting the codes these are going to be for "movie types"

Quality Profiles

Okay that's all the custom formats we will need for the 1080p Radarr setup, in the next section we will be adding a quality profile so we can match our custom formats to a profile to search for movies using our custom formats we've just added.

Quality Profile (1080p)

Okay, so now we need to navigate to radarrs settings page once again, but this time we're going to click on Profiles.

You should see a plus button similar to the page where we added custom formats, go ahead and click the plus button and you'll be presented with a page called "Add Quality Profile"

The information needed to fill the form is below.

Name: HD Bluray + WEB
Upgrade allowed: Check the upgrades allowed box ✅
Upgrade until quality: Set this to Bluray-1080p
Minimum custom format score: 0
Upgrade until custom format score: 10000
Language: Original

On the right hand side of the screen (Below on mobile) you should see a bunch of qualities, we're going to mark and put them in a certain order, this order must be followed exactly if it is not the profile won't grab and upgrade as expected.

Once those qualities are checked we need to move them to the top of the list (drag and drop) in the order I've displayed them here.

Once they are in the correct order we can move onto scoring the custom formats for the quality profile we've just created.

Scoring

In this section we're going to add the scores to the custom formats so that radarr can sort through the qualities it pulls correctly, according to our rules we've set, ready? Let's begin.

To add the scores look below the qualities and you'll see a section full of the custom formats we added with box's titled "Score" on the right hand side of them, you input the below scores in this box next to the same custom format.

Breakdown and Why (General Streaming Services)

The reason why these Custom Formats have a score of 0 is because they are mainly used for the naming scheme and other variables should decide for movies if a certain release if preferred.

BCore, CRiT and MA are the only ones with a score because of their better source material, or higher bitrate and quality compared to other streaming services. However you can score these as you wish.

That's it for radarr 1080p Custom Formats there are some "Special Quality Profiles" regarding this 1080p profile but for those you'll have to dive into the trash guides discord and search for them as per the rules of trash guides. I cannot share these publicly however the same steps apply to inputting those custom formats as we've seen here.
